Your documents are secure through a process that has far greater document integrity, security and portability built in than its manual paper counterpart. The platform we use has extensive experience building bank grade, highly secure software systems. The data is transmitted and stored using industry-best data security practices. For example, all user communications are encrypted and all data at rest (such as documents) are protected using industry-specified encryption protocols such as AES-256. All application accesses are also tracked using an audit trail. The security policies and systems are audited and tested on a regular basis. These include audits of internal security procedures and protocols, and also comprehensive penetration testing of the software and hardware environments to provide risk assessments of the applications and associated data
With a traditional in-person notary, a signer must appear in the physical presence of the notary. With social distancing necessities, however, the ability to be in the physical presence of a notary is not an option for most of the public. With remote online notarization, the signer does not have to be in the physical presence of the notary for the notarial act to be considered legal and valid. Instead, the law considers the signer to be legally “appearing” by way of audio-videoconference with the notary. This means that the signer can be located anywhere in the world during the notary session. And the notarial act will be legal under state law. This is what makes online notarization dramatically faster, easier, and safer than an in-person traditional or mobile notary service.
Online notary is far safer than traditional, in-person notary. First, the online notary session is recorded, so any signs of duress or coercion can be reviewed after the session’s completion. Second, the signer’s identity is verified with a two-step process of identity-proofing questions and a technology-driven analysis of the signer’s identification card. Our system uses technology that can instantly analyze any state’s driver’s license, state-issued ID, or U.S. Passport. It would be almost impossible for a traditional, in-person notary public to perform this level and scope of identity verification. Accordingly, the likelihood of identity fraud is dramatically reduced. The signed document in an online notary session is sealed with a tamper-evident digital signing certificate that makes it easy for any document recipient to see unauthorized changes to the document.
After your document has been notarized you will be prompted to pay by either Debit/Credit Card, PayPal or Venmo for payment. Following payment your electronic document will be sent to you electronically.
